Data streaming for efficient and compliant access to and use of Data in AI

Alien brings a mature, production-ready data-streaming layer designed specifically for compliant, high-performance access to data for AI systems. Our technology connects content owners and data providers (scientific, cultural, industrial, or media) with AI builders and data users, through secure APIs that manage licensing, access control, traceability, and revenue sharing in real time.

Unlike traditional data repositories or one-off datasets, Alien’s approach is continuous and rights-aware. Each interaction between an AI model and a dataset — retrieval, fine-tuning, inference — can be tracked, priced, and audited. This ensures that AI systems are grounded in verified, up-to-date data while preserving compliance with European data-protection, copyright, and contractual frameworks.

Alien would contribute to the consortium by:

• Providing its data-streaming infrastructure and API layer, already operational with open-access scientific data (bioRxiv, medRxiv), and many more to come.

• Supporting integration and testing with industrial, cultural, and research datasets to demonstrate cross-domain interoperability.

• Developing legal and economic models for lawful data use — including usage tracking, automated attribution, and fair remuneration.

• Sharing expertise in trust-by-design architectures for AI pipelines, combining technical and legal transparency.

Through this contribution, Alien would help the consortium deliver a tangible demonstration of how Europe can make data for AI both efficient and compliant — a foundation for sustainable, rights-respecting artificial intelligence.

Our technology is a very good add-on to a dataspace infrastructure. Data streaming can be part of a dataspace collection of services and we are currently partnering and veloping integrations with TEMS dataspace and Legal dataspace.
