About
The Trans Realities Lab fuses technologies and approaches from the fields of Design, Systems Engineering, Performing Arts, X Reality, Virtual Production, Animation, Cinema and Games to provide a transdisciplinary hub for research, and the investigation of networked XR mediated environments for collaboration and education.
Current Research Programmes
> Holodeck Tools
AI and sensor fusion in distributed XR environments for collaboration, scene generation and rapid prototyping/visualisation using natural language and movement.
> XR-IT eXtended Realties - Intraverse Tookit
Software and systems platform for distributed immersive collaboration in Metaverse type envronments.
With a focus on accessibility, XR-IT introduces a user-experience-orientated web-based interface where the complex underlaying complexity of distributed systems in the spatial domain are abstracted into a language of functional production.
This intuitive platform empowers creators to experiment freely without technical barriers, opening up opportunities for innovation in spatial collaboration across the fields of media production, engineering, education, and research.
> Hybrid Lab
The Hybrid Lab research project deploys a networked XR (eXtended Reality) environment in which a series of design build challenges is executed. The environment is used not only as a digital twin (for virtual scouting and in situ testing of models) but also as a real-time platform for distanced collaboration between the researchers, designers and clients.
> ECO-EXT
AR gamification of workshops for virtual commons and sustainability.
