SET is a private nonprofit higher education institution and is among the top-providers of digital innovation and entrepreneurial education in Ukraine. SET’s vision is to reimagine education to drive global positive changes through science, entrepreneurship and technology. SET’s mission is the empowerment of innovators to shape the changing world via the development of technological and business education.
SET is aimed at tech business including startups and deep tech working in two dimensions: talents development (skilling/upskilling/reskilling) and academic educational products (customer development approach). It operates in a blended format, closely cooperating with IT business companies and startups to bring up-to-date agile knowledge and practice to its learners. The strategic educational areas are cybersecurity, AI, blockchain, DeepTech, innovations, and startups. Another strategic focus of interest is bringing science closer to market.
SET is licensed to award master’s degrees in “Security, Quality and Data Analysis” (Cyber Defense) and “Computer Science and Innovation Engineering” (Computer Science: Machine Learning & Cloud Computing; Computer Science: Innovation Engineering) and also delivers the 4 MicroMasters programs and a number of short-term qualification advancement courses aimed at tech business. SET operates within the Cybersecurity Workforce Framework development in Ukraine (2022).
SET has launched a SET Accelerator for IT professionals and deep tech entrepreneurs and innovators, with a special focus on women-led businesses and startups, as well as the wider public. SET is dedicated to sensible social impact and is supporting Ukraine in international projects related to digital transformation and cybersecurity education. Making quality technological education in Ukraine accessible and inclusive, SET offers: grants for representatives of the Ukrainian army, veterans and women who want to pursue a career in the tech industry (scholarships to cover the full cost of tuition fees, and scholarships to cover 70%-50%); free programs for the development of female entrepreneurship and leadership in IT; free training for the reskilling of veterans. Aiming at long-term educational goals, the SET developed an information platform for school-aged children and their parents as a vulnerable population group (especially in the context of cyber hygiene), taking the first step towards professional practical education of young people. In 2023 SET launched the first Ukrainian-language podcast on cybersecurity, "Google Won't Tell You”.
SET closely cooperates with such IT business companies and startups as Phineo, WTECH, IdeaSoft, Roosh, Startup Wise Guys, Supercharger Ventures, Sigma Software, Genesis, ISACA, etc. For example, there are 2 virtual laboratories established in partnership with Sigma and Customertimes companies for QA and practical needs of students. To enhance the quality of the educational services provided, SET cooperates with such institutions as UC Berkeley Fisher Center for Business Analytics (USA), Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and more and promotes deep tech education at such world-known events as TechCrunch, WebSummit, etc.
SET University and US-based startup Hilltop Technologies have officially launched SET Cyber Labs, a new cybersecurity startup providing 24/7 tailored solutions for businesses, non-profits and academic institutions. Another IRONCYBER startup focused on cyber range scenarios development (real-world attack simulations) was established by SET (2025) as an environment for practical training for students.
