St. Clair College – TwinWorks: The Nexus Foundry

This future initiative includes clear cost-recovery pathways, such as offering micro-credentials, applied research trials for SMEs, and custom R&D engagements for large enterprises. Projected growth of fee-for-service revenue over five years will support operational sustainability. In-kind contributions from the College—including dedicated lab space, administrative leadership, and project management time—further demonstrate commitment and alignment with long-term goals.TwinWorks integrates co-operative education and applied research across disciplines through experiential learning. Students train in:

• STEAM: Robotics, digital twins, AI systems, and drone automation

• Health Sciences: Digital nursing clinics, dentistry co-op simulators, XR anatomy labs

• Manufacturing and Engineering: Simulations for automation, drone prototyping, defence applications

• Trades and Horticulture: Digital twin greenhouses, precision agriculture, XR shop safety training

• IT: Cybersecurity, software development, and SCC-LLM development

• Arts: User experience design, virtual storytelling, metacampus assets

Students will earn digital badges, create project portfolios, and receive micro-credentials through SCC’s LLM-driven analytics platform. They interact with humanoid robots, SCC-LLM tutors, and real-time co-op simulations via XR labs. The Nexus Foundry’s unique ecosystem ensures upskilling and reskilling for both new entrants and veteran workers in Ontario, Canada and beyond through fee-for-service industry training, sector-specific workshops, and post-graduate certifications.
