About

The CECOM and TECASOS research cluster focuses on transforming ceramic-industry waste into sustainable, high-performance concretes, reducing reliance on traditional Portland cement and supporting climate-mitigation goals. By incorporating ceramic polishing powders and recycled aggregates, the project advances alternative binders while generating key data on mechanical, thermal, and durability properties that feed into European sustainable-materials research and align with Horizon Europe priorities on the green transition, circular economy, and advanced materials. With a multidisciplinary team and strong ties to industrialized construction, the initiative promotes efficient prefabrication, lowers environmental impact, and fosters new circular-economy business models—particularly relevant in Castellón (Spain), where over 102,000 tons of reusable ceramic waste are produced annually. In line with SDGs 11, 12, and 13, the project supports more sustainable construction practices and contributes to a more resilient, efficient, and environmentally responsible future.
