Understanding and tackling the decline of insects HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-BIODIV-01

Expert Entomology and Insecticides Researcher (Prof.)and Advisor for Plant Protection Affairs at National Agricultural Research Center NARC Jordan

Amman - Karak, Jordan

About

  • Insect monitoring and field assessment:
Experience in designing and implementing field surveys and bait-based and light trapping systems to monitor insect populations, supporting long-term monitoring schemes and trend analysis.

  • Bioassays and ecotoxicological evaluation:
Strong background in laboratory and semi-field bioassays, including toxicity assessment (LD50, LD90) and insecticides residues , enabling evaluation of the polution and impacts of plant-based compounds and other stressors on insect species.

  • Botanical insecticides and eco-friendly solutions:
Expertise in plant-derived compounds and green insecticides, contributing to the development of sustainable strategies to mitigate drivers of insect decline, particularly pesticide-related pressures.

  • Support to integrative and multidisciplinary approaches:
Ability to contribute to studies linking insect ecology, behavior, and response to environmental factors, aligning with integrative taxonomy , life-cycle-based approaches and molecular characterization.

  • Assessment of drivers affecting insect populations:
Research experience related to agricultural practices, pesticide use, and environmental factors influencing insect abundance and diversity.
