About
The primary objective of this project is to enhance West African food security by developing and validating non-transformative, dsRNA-based bioformulations as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional chemical treatments. We aim to address the urgent need for sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural inputs by targeting high-impact pests and pathogens in regional staple crops. To support this, we are establishing a robust "Innovation Hub" at the University of Jos that integrates advanced bioinformatics, molecular biology, and field-scale validation to deliver targeted dsRNA solutions tailored for tropical and Sahelian agro-ecosystems.
We have established a comprehensive West African "Hub-and-Spoke" network to ensure regional impact and regulatory compliance, led by the University of Jos (Scientific Hub). We are actively seeking to collaborate with partners across key African agro-ecological zones to fulfill the following roles:
-
Western/Sahel Zone: Leading environmental resilience and arid-zone validation.
-
Middle/Coastal Zone: Anchoring humid-zone testing and crop breeding integration.
-
Central/East Zone: Managing regional validation and technology scaling.
-
Multi-Actor & Regulatory: Engaging farmer networks for co-development and leading biosafety oversight. Interested partners who fit these regional profiles are encouraged to contact us to discuss their role in this growing network.
We are seeking a European Lead Administrative Coordinator and technical partners specialized in related areas to complete our bid for the 2026 Horizon Europe Cluster 6 calls. We are specifically looking for collaborators with expertise in Socio-Economic Impact Assessment and related technical fields. Our consortium offers European partners a unique, high-momentum gateway to African agricultural innovation, backed by established regional spokes and the World Bank ACEPRD facilities. Interested European institutions and administrative leads are invited to contact us for formal partnership discussions.
