About
Europe’s transition to a nature-positive and climate-resilient economy is slowed by weak operational links between sustainability policy frameworks and executable Nature-based Solutions (NbS). Companies and financial institutions face growing expectations to assess and disclose nature-related impacts, dependencies, and risks, but practical implementation is constrained by two structural gaps:
(1) lack decision-grade NbS metrics / metrices that translate sustainability requirements into measurable biodiversity, climate adaptation and socio-economic outcomes at project and portfolio levels; and
(2) limited, standardised methods for annual and long-term monitoring of NbS
As a result, NbS projects remain difficult to plan at scale, verify over time, and integrate into corporate strategy, investment decisions, and public land-use planning.
