Interest to join a consortium on pastoralism and rangeland in Africa as Nature based sollutions

Research in CIRAD at CIRAD

Montpellier, France

About

With over 15 years of experience in dryland ecosystems, I am willing to join a Horizon Europe consortium where my expertise in rangeland ecology, pastoral systems and socio-ecological modelling can contribute to ambitious, impact-driven projects.

My field experience spans the Sahel (Senegal), the Sahara fringe, and Mediterranean mountain and steppe ecosystems in Morocco. I work on long-term pastoral observatories, borehole-based grazing systems, protected area interfaces, and landscape-scale biodiversity monitoring sites.

Methodologically, I combine:

  • Ecological and vegetation models (process-based models, ModVege-type approaches)

  • Agent-Based Models for pastoral mobility and land-use dynamics

  • UAV-based monitoring (photogrammetry, multispectral, hyperspectral, LiDAR)

  • Satellite remote sensing and spatial analysis

  • Carbon stock assessment and biodiversity indicators

  • Participatory scenario design with local stakeholders

I am particularly interested in contributing to projects linking biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, pastoral mobility, protected areas governance, and digital monitoring tools. I can contribute as a scientific partner or co-coordinator, especially on modelling frameworks, field-based validation, and integration between ecological processes and policy-oriented scenarios
