Agroecology and Ecosystem Services in arid farming: biodiversity, pollination, bio-pest control, and nature-based solutions for sustainable agriculture

Researcher at Southern Arava R&D

Hevel Eilot, Israel

About

I am an applied agroecologist specializing in biological control, pollination, ecosystem services, and sustainable crop production in arid regions. My research integrates habitat management, bat-, bird-, and insect natural-enemy–based pest control, pollinator protection, and ecological monitoring tools (flower strips, habitat structures, artificial prey, camera validation, biodiversity surveys).
I am developing projects on biodiversity-mediated ecosystem services, mostly on pest suppression and pollination, in arid agro-ecosystems. This includes parasitoid- and predator-based biocontrol, Integrated Pest Management, pollinator protection, and regenerative agriculture for food security under climate change.
I bring expertise in experimental design, field ecology, farmer collaboration, and translating ecological services into economic value.

Role in consortium: Research partner leading field ecology, agroecology, ecosystem-service quantification, and design/assessment of habitat-based interventions.

Looking for:

  • Coordinators or partners in agroecology, biodiversity, and nature-based pest control

  • Institutions with expertise in modeling, landscape ecology, and socio-economic valuation

  • Tech partners for sensor systems, automated monitoring, or ecological data platforms

  • Agricultural cooperatives, growers, or LTSER networks

Type of cooperation sought: Coordinator or Partner
