About
ARETE – Institute for Sustainable Prosperity is a research-driven, policy-oriented organisation working at the intersection of health, food systems, environment, and social equity. We design and implement living labs, participatory research, and policy-relevant innovation that translate complex systemic challenges—such as nutrition, mental health, and environmental exposure—into actionable, people-centred solutions.
Our work bridges research, practice, and governance, with a strong focus on vulnerable groups, prevention, and long-term societal resilience.
ARETE has extensive experience in EU-funded research and innovation projects addressing health determinants beyond the clinical setting, particularly through food systems, environmental conditions, and social practices.
Our past and ongoing work includes:
-
Public health and nutrition interventions, especially in early childhood and community settings, focusing on healthy diets, behavioural change, and food environments.
-
Living Labs and co-creation methodologies that engage citizens, educators, municipalities, and policymakers in designing health-promoting solutions.
-
Mental health and wellbeing initiatives, with a focus on community resilience, psychosocial stressors, and prevention-oriented approaches.
-
Policy analysis and systems research linking health outcomes to socioeconomic inequalities, environmental exposure, and governance frameworks.
-
Mixed-methods research, including qualitative fieldwork, surveys, participatory tools, and policy mapping, aligned with Horizon Europe’s impact-driven logic.
ARETE has contributed to projects under Horizon Europe, COST Actions, and other EU frameworks, collaborating with universities, research institutes, NGOs, and public authorities across Europe and the Western Balkans. We are particularly interested in Cluster Health topics related to prevention, health promotion, One Health, nutrition, environmental health, digital health and socially embedded innovation.
