About
IFV (French Wine and Vine Institute) is the French technical institute of R&D for vine and wine and is a SME governed by a board members representing all professionals of the wine industry.
IFV is implicated in the French national plan to anticipate the withdrawal of active substances from EU market (named PARDADA) in the field of viticulture. IFV is in charge of the national coordination of the PARSADA programme for the viticulture sector.
IFV can:
-
participate in exchanges with other actors and contribute to establish or reinforce an inclusive, multi-actor platform.
-
help to identify critical uses of active substances at risk of withdrawal, assess impacts and map research needs : for instance in viticulture the withdrawal of Copper is a difficulty. There is a need for further research on the efficacity of copper and its functioning in order to propose to determine a minimum dosis applicable. Only the ionic form of copper is effective against downy mildew. Assessing the proportion of ionic copper on the surface of the plant according to the formulations and its evolution over time would make it possible to adapt the dose of copper according to the product in question. Furthermore, it is the copper located on the underside of the leaves that is effective. It is important to develop a method for quantifying localized copper to verify whether the amount of copper applied is sufficient to combat mildew. IFV could set up laboratory and field experiments to study copper speciation at the plant level and determine the minimum dose of copper required at the organ and plot level to protect vines against downy mildew.
-
contribute to define pathways for the development and adoption of alternative solutions.
-
organise specific workshops, coordinate exchange activities, contribute to recommendations, and raise awareness about alternatives to pesticides in the viticulture & wine sector. IFV could use its usual media reaching out to a variety of publics (winegrowers, advisors, wine industry operators): website, newsletters, social media, agricultural fairs, conferences & workshops, webinars, onsite visits and demonstrations…
