CIRCULARMEAT
EU Project Manager at Lombardy Cluster for Agri-food
Bruxelles, Belgium
About
CIRCULARMEAT will boost circularity and diversification in terrestrial livestock systems (beef and pork) across multiple EU pedo-climatic regions by deploying and validating integrated solution packages at farm, territorial and value-chain levels. The project will (i) close nutrient loops through improved manure/slurry management and local nutrient exchange schemes (e.g., agronomic nutrient balancing and conversion into safe, quality-controlled organic fertilisers/soil amendments), (ii) increase the use of local co-products and under-used biomass streams to reduce reliance on external inputs (notably feed/protein and mineral fertilisers), and (iii) strengthen diversification pathways via mixed crop–livestock integration, agroecological practices (including agroforestry options where relevant), and new revenue streams linked to the valorisation of by-products and ecosystem services.
The project will be led by Italy’s market leader in meat production and processing, recognised for its strong track record in advancing circular-economy solutions across the agri-food sector. As an active member of the CAT.AL network, the company is committed to strengthening value-chain collaboration and to testing, validating, and scaling innovative circular agriculture best practices—turning them into measurable results and replicable models for the wider sector. CAT.AL will act as communication and dissemination leader of the project.
