ReedBirds - Common reed biocomposites as a high-performance wood alternative
Climate Policy Manager at ReedBirds P.S.A.
Warsaw, Poland
About
We offer:
Common reed based biocomposites that can complement recovered wood chip streams to create circular, higher value panel products for construction and interiors.
A practical industrial symbiosis concept with wood chip recyclers and processors: blending concepts, feedstock specifications, and process adjustments to keep quality and performance stable despite variable incoming streams.
A clear consortium direction primarily for CIRCBIO-09 (upcycling and recycling for higher value and environmental benefits), with strong synergies to CIRCBIO-07 (biomass flows, aggregation, pre-treatment, quality and traceability) and CIRCBIO-02 (ecodesign and circularity of construction products).
An impact layer that can be added where relevant: nature-based solutions framing around wetland biomass sourcing and a potential carbon farming and MRV storyline with partners working on land and restoration.
Our experience:
We develop and validate common reed biocomposite panels as a wood alternative, designed for industrial scalability and compatibility with panel value chains.
We work with biomass that is naturally adapted to wet conditions and we translate this into engineered material performance through controllable recipes and process parameters.
We understand real world constraints in feedstock supply: variability, moisture, contamination risk and the need for clear specs, QA and traceability, which is why recovered wood chip partners are a key target for us.
We are building partnerships across the bioeconomy and construction value chain to move circular materials from pilots to market uptake, supported by performance testing and life cycle thinking (LCA oriented evidence packages).
