CL6-2026-01-BIODIV-02: Sensitivity of Groundwater Ecosystems in Atlantic Rural Areas
European Programmes Manager at The Galician Enterprise-University Foundation (FEUGA)
Santiago de Compostela, Spain
About
The University of A Coruña (UDC) brings scientific expertise gained from previous EU-funded projects (e.g. CLIMWAT), addressing groundwater ecosystems under climate change. The team specializes in hydrogeology, groundwater-dependent ecosystems, and the assessment of biodiversity and geodiversity in Atlantic region.
The research group can support the consortium with:
-
groundwater flow models to support the assessment of the water fluxes and hydrodynamics of groundwater wetlands and spring discharges.
-
fill the knowledge gaps in groundwater ecosystems and their biodiversity in Atlantic regions to establish effective protection measures to protect drinking water resources, as well as groundwater biodiversity and geodiversity, and groundwater-dependent ecosystems and biodiversity.
-
evaluation the potential impact and sustainability of managed aquifer recharge techniques in rural areas, including on the groundwater ecosystems, associated water ecosystems and dependent terrestrial ecosystems, and drinking water from a multi-objective approach, and its integration with evidence-based engineered and Nature-based Solutions to reduce runoff, soil erosion and improve landscape climatic resilience.
