Engaging Communities in Climate Adaptation: Living Labs & Participatory Mapping (HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-CIRCBIO-01-two-stage)

Acting Manager at Comparative Research Network

Berlin, Germany

About

CRN has hands-on experience empowering both rural and urban communities to adapt to climate change through bottom-up, inclusive, participatory processes. We specialise in participatory mapping, multi-stakeholder engagement, and co-designed resilience strategies (e.g. from our “Ruralities,” “ClimateYouths,” and community-based sustainability projects).

What we bring to your consortium:

  • Citizen science & data collection: Training for citizens to collect, monitor, and interpret hyper-local climate data (e.g. heat islands, flooding risk, urban green space). This transforms abstract climate data into tangible local knowledge.

  • Living labs & multi-actor platforms: Facilitation of co-design processes involving local stakeholders (municipalities, businesses, residents, vulnerable groups), fostering inclusive governance and community ownership of adaptation plans.

  • Social inclusion & empowerment: Engaging vulnerable or under-represented groups to ensure equitable access to resilience pathways.

  • Communication & social impact: From community reporting to dissemination — ensuring visibility, transparency and long-term engagement.

Our role:

  • Partner leading work packages on Community Engagement, Living Labs, Citizen Science, Social Impact Assessment, Dissemination & Participation.

**Target calls:
**Destination: “Resilient, inclusive, healthy and green rural, coastal and urban communities” (Cluster 6), or calls under “Land, ocean and water for climate action”, “Urban resilience & adaptation”, or “Inclusive governance & local empowerment.”

**Why CRN:
**We combine rigorous methodology and deep experience with an inclusive, participatory mindset — ideal for consortia that want to ground climate-adaptation solutions in real-life community needs.
