Development of novel bio-composites

CHIMAR is an R&D SME, active in the development and provision of technology for the production of adhesives and chemicals, as well as for their application in the manufacture of composites (based on wood or other materials).

CHIMAR's expertise extends to the development of bio-composite panels using non-wood biomass materials, agricultural and industrial residues as well as recycled materials. Non-exhaustive examples: cereal straw/husks/fibres, tree/crop pruning products, fibres/chips from hemp/kenaf, biochar, seaweed, fibres/chips from recycled wood products, fibres from recycled textiles.

In R&D projects, CHIMAR typically acts as an end user-technology developer, aiming to valorize biorefinery or other process streams in its product applications.

Moreover, we actively collaborate with industrial producers, universities, research institutes, NGOs, independent researchers and consultancies, which all have complementary knowledge and infrastructure.
