Its' main responsibilities are aiding Israeli farmers finding solutions for various problems, performing research and developing new technologies in the fields of agriculture and food sciences. Volcanis'​ six institutes are responsible for Plant Sciences, Animal Science, Plant Protection, Soil, Water and Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, and Postharvest and Food Sciences
