About me
I work in AFBI Belfast as Postdoctoral Researcher/HSO within the Northern Ireland Soil Nutrient health Scheme project. Aliyu Ibrahim Dabai is a dynamic microbiologist and certified lead auditor in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in environmental management and occupational health. Holding a BSc, MSc, and PhD in Microbiology, he combines advanced scientific expertise with practical experience in laboratory quality systems, biosafety, and sustainability standards. Aliyu’s research spans microbial ecology, environmental biotechnology, and the development of diagnostic tools for monitoring soil health. His recent work explores lignin-degrading microbial communities using stable isotope probing, biochar impacts on soil health, and the functional diversity of genes in contaminated environments. A strategic thinker with a meticulous approach, he is also skilled in data-driven decision-making and the application of molecular techniques like qPCR and metagenomics. Passionate about occupational hygiene and environmental stewardship, Aliyu brings a unique perspective that bridges science, policy, and safety. He is now seeking new challenges where he can contribute to sustainable solutions and improve environment and restore ecosystem services outcomes.
