I have a strong track record in digital and circular Manufacturing focusing on remanufacturing. The research areas include lifecycle data and knowledge management, process simulation and optimisation, supply chain management, operations management etc., with case studies ranging from aero-engines, automotives, moulds and dies, machine tools, medical devices etc.
I work closely with business supporting them to accelerate innovation. For instance, the knowledge transfer partnership project I am leading has led to £6m turnover to business, awarded “outstanding” by the funder.
My knowledge is embedded in British Standards Institution (BSI) standards and I co-authored a government-commissioned position paper on Value Retention Processes including remanufacturing, refurbishment and repair. I am the UK chair of the China-UK remanufacturing summits (2017, 2018, 2019, 2023) which are regularly participated by senior stakeholders in the UK and China.
I chair BSI Committee TPR1/7/3 for Value Retention Processes. I chaired the International Conferences on Remanufacturing (ICoR2021 and ICoR2023) in conjunction with ReMaTec, the world’s major remanufacturing industry exhibition.
