Processing bio-based materials into semi-finished products/ composites

About

We have the expertise and equipment to process bio-based and recycled materials into composites. We have equipment for the production of semi-finished products, such as a wet-laid nonwoven line.

We can also produce finished composites using a pultrusion line or an automated fiber placement facility. Additionally, panels with different geometries can be processed via a heating press, RTM or VARI procedure and can be tested mechanically in our in-house laboratories.

We are a Project team which is all about bio-composites. The team is a cooperation between the university of Aalen and the Fraunhofer IGCV in Augsburg, Germany.

The aim of this group is to link the fundamental research of the university, especially the Chair of Sustainable Materials in Polymer Technology, with the application-based research of the Fraunhofer Institute, including its processing equipment like automated fiber placement, injection molding, wetlaying or pultrusion.

We have several ideas to make the use of bio-composites more attractive. In general, we are looking for partners for the CBE JU 2024 call or future collaborations. If you are interested or would like to receive more information about our equipment etc., please do not hesitate to contact me.
