About

Via biochar nutrients can be recycled in line with the principle of the circular economy. Moreover, biochar application can improve the capacity of nutrient storage and water conservation in the soil, creates good growth conditions for a healthy soil microbiome and contributes to the build-up of humus. Self-sufficiency with biochar avoids monetary expenses for purchasing coal and can increase the added value by utilization of residual materials. Users can check their own material for possible uses. Role and potential of different biochar qualities in the nutrient cycle – in particular N and P – are identified and tailor-made technology developments are carried out applying participative methods.
