Catarina Marques Gomes is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal. She holds a PhD in Agricultural Production Chains and a Master’s degree in Enology. Her research focuses on chemical sensors (particularly electronic nose (e-nose) technology) alongside chemical, sensory, and emotional analysis of fermented beverages such as wine and wine vinegar.
Catarina has established strong interdisciplinary links between objective analytical tools and subjective consumer perception, with several scientific publications on the application of e-nose and e-tongue technologies in complex food matrices. She leads a trained sensory panel at UTAD and has collaborated with national and international research centers, companies and start-ups; highlighting institutions such as CSIC (Laboratorio de Análisis del Aroma, sabor y Enología de La Rioja) and IHSM (University of Málaga), enhancing her experience in cross-border and multidisciplinary projects.
Fluent in English and Spanish, she has experience in scientific project consulting, and is currently seeking to develop a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) postdoctoral project in the field of chemical sensing and artificial olfaction.
