My organisation

FUNDESALUD (FS) is the Public Foundation (non-profit) ascribed to the Regional Ministry of Health and Social Services at the Government of Extremadura that manages both research and training programs at the Regional Health (SES) and Social care (SEPAD) system in Extremadura. In addition, FundeSalud works in collaboration with University of Extremadura (UEx) and other public or private research centers, providing resources, staff and facilities to develop any biomedical research activity in the autonomous region of Extremadura (Spain).

About me

Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Extremadura (Spain) and a Postdoc at the University of Minnesota (USA). Additionally, a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Data Science in the healthcare sector from “Instituto de Salud Carlos III” (Spain) and a Master’s degree in promotion and management of international research and innovation programmes from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain). He is an expert in Genetics, Molecular Biology and infectious diseases. He has developed his career in the USA, India, Germany, and Spain. Author of several articles published in scientific journals as well as book chapters. Regular reviewer in European funding programmes and relevant JCR-indexed journals. He has participated as a researcher and principal investigator in several research projects and as a national and international scientific activities coordinator. External expert for the Spanish Medicine Agency (AEMPS), and currently Chief Scientific Officer at FundeSalud, Dept. of Health and Social Services at the Government of Extremadura. His principal aim is to promote research, innovation, and internationalization in the health and care system in the autonomous region of Extremadura, in Spain.
