Mission Innovation Integrated Biorefineries Community Network
Welcome to the Mission Innovation Integrated Biorefineries Community Network!
The Mission Innovation Integrated Biorefineries Mission is one of seven public-private Missions under Mission Innovation, a global initiative to accelerate research, development, and deployment of clean technology.
Greenhouse gas emissions from the transport and chemicals sectors already account for nearly one-third of global. These are projected to increase by 2050 and therefore there is a growing need for low-carbon and renewable alternatives.
Our goal is to support development and demonstration of innovative solutions to accelerate the commercialization of integrated biorefineries and deployment of sustainable biofuels, biochemicals, and biomaterials. You can find out more about the Mission here: https://mission-innovation.net/missions/integrated-biorefineries-mission/out.
We're excited to bring together subject matter experts, innovators, and thought leaders from countries participating in the Mission to support the Mission's goal!
How do participants benefit from participating in the community network and attending events?
Networking opportunities: The community provides opportunities to meet and connect with experts and like-minded individuals. You can make valuable connections that can help support research, innovation, or grow your business.
Knowledge sharing: The community provides opportunities to engage with others and attend events that feature expert speakers who share their insights and knowledge on specific topics. This can provide attendees with new ideas, perspectives, and strategies.
Explore new products and services: The community will help showcase new products and services relevant to the biofuel, biochemical, and biomaterial industry.
Build brand awareness: The community can provide opportunity to build awareness amongst a growing international community of experts and businesses.
Funding and collaboration opportunities: The community can help highlight new and forthcoming collaboration and funding opportunities for research, innovation, and projects.

Canadian and Brazillian Colleagues Further International Collaboration on Biorefining
In May colleagues from Canada and Brazil met at the CNPEM Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials in Campinas, Brazil to discuss national policies, programs, participation in Mission Innovation and opportunities for future collaboration. Brazilian colleagues also provided a tour of their facilities to demonstrate some of their ongoing work on biorefining.
The same colleagues also participated the first set of in-person meetings at the G20 Initiative on the Bioeconomy in Brasilia, Brazil to discuss high-level principles to help guide development of the global bioeconomy. Brazilian colleagues presented on their work at CNPEM to kick-off the event.
Innovation Roadmap
The Mission's Innovation Roadmap was developed, in consultation with stakeholders, to identify the key challenges and opportunities for the Mission to support development and deployment of integrated biorefineries. Eight key actions have been identified that the Mission will seek to support through international collaboration.
