Swallow Pharma is an ophthalmology-focused pharmaceutical startup developing a next-generation ophthalmic drug delivery platform.

Our goal is to address key limitations of conventional eye-drop containers, including poor usability, excess drug loss, the use of preservatives, and limited compatibility with challenging formulations.

Our platform is designed to deliver a precise, low volume of ophthalmic formulation horizontally toward the eye. It combines a reusable actuator with short-duration replaceable cartridges. By shortening the period of use for each cartridge, we aim to reduce the need for preservatives or potentially enable preservative-free products, while also improving usability by reducing the need for patients to tilt their heads backward.

We are also exploring applications for challenging formulations such as high-viscosity, suspension, and emulsion products that may be difficult to accommodate in conventional eye-drop containers.

The platform is designed for potential use in both prescription ophthalmic products and OTC eye-care products. Rather than selling the device as a standalone product, Swallow Pharma is pursuing a B2B co-development model. We aim to work with pharmaceutical companies to adapt the platform to specific products and development programs, progressing from feasibility studies and evaluation to joint research, co-development, and licensing.

The platform is currently being developed in collaboration with a Japanese container and medical device manufacturer. We are actively seeking partnerships with pharmaceutical companies in Japan, Europe, the United States, and Asia, including both prescription pharmaceutical companies and OTC eye-care manufacturers.
