Out-license / collaborative development, Glaucoma, Neuro-protection to Regeneration treatment by Gene ”X” Knock-down ASO program

About

Luxna Biotech is developing an intravitreal antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) targeting Gene X as a potential neuroprotective treatment for glaucoma. The program aims to address progressive retinal ganglion cell damage, including in patients whose disease continues to worsen despite intraocular pressure control. The ASO incorporates Luxna’s proprietary nucleic acid chemistry and is designed for sustained activity with infrequent dosing. In preclinical studies, a single intravitreal injection showed activity in a mouse optic nerve injury model. In a nonhuman primate model of laser-induced ocular hypertension, treatment produced a signal of retinal nerve fiber layer preservation, although further studies are needed to establish its relationship to functional benefit. Luxna is conducting additional dose, efficacy, and safety studies and is seeking a partner to advance the program toward clinical development.
