New Murabba Development Company was launched with the aim of developing real estate and local infrastructure projects, diversifying sources of local economic income, empowering the private sector, and increasing the volume of local content.
It aims to provide opportunities for housing, work, and entertainment within a fifteen-minute walking radius, along with internal transportation means. The area is about a twenty-minute car drive from the airport.
The project contributes SAR180 billion to the non-oil gross domestic product and helps create 334,000 direct and indirect jobs. The New Murabba project is expected to be completed by 2030.
Omar Abed is a seasoned real estate investment professional with a diverse background spanning development, portfolio strategy, and capital markets across the GCC region. He currently serves as the Director of Development Capital & Partnerships at the New Murabba Development Company in Riyadh, where he leads the structuring of joint ventures and public-private partnerships for one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious masterplans. In this role, Omar is actively engaged in attracting private sector investment, working with sovereign funds, institutional developers, and international operators across hospitality, retail, cultural, and mixed-use assets.
Prior to his current position, Omar held senior roles at Knight Frank, Cushman & Wakefield, and Colliers International, where he advised on high-profile investment transactions and strategic development consultancy. His extensive experience also includes valuation, feasibility studies, and structuring forward-sale and fund-through deals, giving him a deep understanding of both the financial and regulatory landscapes in the region.
Omar holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Real Estate Investment and Finance, a BSc in Finance and Banking and is currently pursuing further studies in real property valuation. He is a former licensed Realtor® in Canada and a former member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. Omar brings a multicultural perspective and an analytical approach to his work, with a strong focus on delivering value-driven strategies in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
