Dr. Tigran Jrbashyan is a prominent economist, strategic advisor, and institutional reform expert with over 25 years of experience across Armenia and the wider region. He currently serves as Partner and Director of Management Advisory Services at Ameria CJSC, where he leads multidisciplinary teams in delivering complex advisory services in economic development, sectoral strategy, public policy, and institutional modernization for public institutions, private companies and international development partners.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Jrbashyan served as Development Director of Ameriabank, one of Armenia’s leading financial institutions. In this capacity, he was responsible for the bank’s strategic planning, marketing, research, public relations, and advisory functions. He played a central role in shaping the bank’s institutional growth strategy and led internal innovation and market positioning initiatives that contributed to Ameriabank’s emergence as a leading financial player in Armenia.
Dr. Jrbashyan has acted as team leader and lead expert on numerous high-level assignments funded by development partners including EU, USAID, UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, ADB, EBRD, GiZ and the UK’s Good Governance Fund. His work has spanned the design and implementation of national strategies in industrial policy, employment, population, exports, innovation, and social protection, as well as policy reforms in trade, customs, taxation, and public administration. As the former Armenian Director of the Armenian-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre (AEPLAC), he played a central role in aligning national legislation and institutional frameworks with the EU acquis communautaire.
He is also the Team Leader of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Armenia National Team, part of the world’s foremost research initiative on entrepreneurship ecosystems. Under his leadership, the GEM Armenia reports provide critical insight into the drivers and barriers of entrepreneurship, informing national policy and strategic decision-making.
In parallel, he leads the National Transfer Accounts (NTA) Armenia Team, an internationally recognized initiative that provides demographic-economic analysis to inform intergenerational fiscal policies. The NTA framework supports Armenia’s evidence-based approach to ageing, youth policy, and sustainable public finance.
Dr. Jrbashyan has also contributed to advancing Armenia’s investment climate and private sector competitiveness as a former President and current Board Member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham). In this role, he advocated for improved public-private dialogue, regulatory modernization, tax reforms and international business integration.
He holds a Doctorate in Economics and has completed executive training in institutional analysis and investment management from the Ronald Coase Institute and Concordia University. A prolific researcher and thought leader, he has authored over 130 publications on institutional economics, regulatory reform, and strategic development. He is fluent in Armenian, English, and Russian.
