Dr. Ogechukwu Benedicta Aribodor is a public health parasitologist and Associate Professor at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. She holds dual PhDs in Public Health Parasitology and Parasitology. Passionate about building equitable research ecosystems, she champions inclusive mentorship and gender equity in science, especially for early-career women researchers. She is a Fellow of the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI). Her expertise spans infectious diseases of poverty, female genital schistosomiasis, WASH, health systems strengthening, and community-led solutions. Her mentorship program for early-career women has already driven institutional change at her university, contributing insights to the development of the Health Research Mentorship in Low and Middle Income Countries (HERMES) 2.0 Practical Guide. This resource is being developed collaboratively through global input, including insights from the recent WHO TDR participatory designathon in Addis Ababa, and is supported by SESH, AHRI, and LSHTM.
At the EDCTP Forum 2025, she will present abstract OA-826 on “Enhancing Gender Equity in Research Mentorship in LMICs: Findings from a Participatory Crowdsourcing Open Call” and a poster P-755 on a makeshift crèche supporting early career women in academia. She welcomes opportunities for mentorship exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and partnerships that advance lasting impact in global health.
Watch out for the launch of HERMES 2.0. Looking forward to connecting and building together.
