About
Who we are RespectLife develops next‑generation medical textiles that are intrinsically hygienic, chemical‑free, super‑hydrophobic and fully circular. Our goal is to reduce healthcare‑associated infections (HAIs), lower antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and cut the environmental footprint of hospital textiles.
What we offer
• Intrinsically hygienic textiles Super‑hydrophobic surfaces prevent microbial adhesion and biofilm formation without biocides. No toxicity, no AMR pressure.
• High performance in clinical use 0.03% water absorption, fast drying, no ironing, lightweight, hypoallergenic, radiotransparent, compatible with autoclave, Sterrad and gamma sterilisation.
• Ultra‑efficient laundering Cold washing (20–30°C) reduces energy use by 80–87%. Less detergents, phosphates and bleaching agents. Dry dyeing eliminates water and chemical effluents.
• Full circularity Monomaterial design enables complete recovery: → new raw material → clean energy → hydrogen Zero textile waste.
• RFID + AI lifecycle tracking 100% traceability across hospital–laundry cycles. Reduces losses (–10–20%), extends lifespan (+30–50%), optimises washing cycles and stock rotation.
Clinical validation
Validated with: • IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo • Humanitas Research Hospital • Humanitas University • Newcastle University – NICA • Elis Industrial Laundry
Evidence: • Lower microbial colonisation • 0% skin irritation • No fibre shedding • High comfort and breathability • Durability >200 industrial washes • Radiotransparency confirmed • SARS‑CoV‑2 non‑retention (ISO 18184)
Environmental impact
• ~100% water reduction (0.6 L/kg vs 10,000 L/kg cotton) • –70–80% CO₂ in production • –80–87% energy in use‑phase • Zero dyeing chemicals, zero pesticides, zero biocides • Major reduction of wastewater pollutants • Full circular recovery at end‑of‑life
Healthcare impact
• Lower HAI risk • Reduced antibiotic pressure • Improved patient comfort (+40–60%) • Fewer skin issues (–20–40%) • Faster handling for caregivers (–30–50%) • Lower textile losses and replacement costs • Better hygiene compliance through traceability
Economic impact
• 30–50% cost savings for hospitals • Reduced energy and water bills • Lower textile repurchase due to extended lifespan • Circular recovery reduces disposal costs • RFID reduces operational inefficiencies
Technology readiness
• TRL 9 – fully market‑ready • Patented technology • Scalable industrial production • Used in hospitals, clinics, laundries and care facilities • No workflow changes required
Our vision
Transform medical textiles into a safe, circular, low‑carbon infrastructure that protects people, reduces environmental impact and improves healthcare operations.
RespectLife represents a new standard for medical textiles: safer for patients, smarter for healthcare systems, sustainable for the planet.
