Paul Hartmann studied Physics at Graz University (Diploma 1991) and received his Ph.D. in Experimental Physics in 1995. He gained extensive experience in R&D management at AVL List Medical Instruments, Roche Diagnostics, and Zumtobel LED – Tridonic Optoelectronics. Since 2010, he has been Director of the Institute MATERIALS at JOANNEUM RESEARCH.

His expertise includes:

• LED technology

• Optoelectronics

• Optical chemical sensors

• Photoluminescence

 He is a board member of Photonics Austria and holds a professorship in Functional Materials at Graz University of Technology.
