Über mich

Florian Krebs is a Senior Researcher at JOANNEUM RESEARCH in Graz, Austria, specializing in the intersection of artificial intelligence and acoustics. He pioneers the development of intelligent acoustic systems for real-time environmental and infrastructure monitoring, integrating cutting-edge AI with large-scale sensor networks.

His group has developed breakthrough solutions such as the AKUT (Acoustic Tunnel Monitoring) system, which continuously analyzes data from over a thousand microphones using advanced AI algorithms to detect anomalies and ensure tunnel safety. These innovations exemplify the power of AI-driven acoustics in mission-critical environments.

He currently leads several national research initiatives, including DURAICELL, which monitors battery performance and degradation acoustically, and other projects targeting acoustic surveillance in industrial factories and complex urban soundscapes. These efforts contribute to a broader vision of resilient, intelligent monitoring infrastructures.

With deep expertise in acoustic AI, he is uniquely positioned to contribute to Horizon Europe Cluster 6 priorities, particularly in biodiversity monitoring through eco-acoustic sensing. His work bridges machine learning, signal processing, and environmental applications, creating scalable tools to monitor and protect natural and built environments.
