Über mich
Michael Schmidt,
He received his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Graz University of Technology in 1993. From 1993 to 1995, he worked at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and the University of Buckingham in the UK, focusing on the design of ATM switches. Since 1996, he has been employed at JOANNEUM RESEARCH in Graz, Austria, specializing in satellite communications. His work includes hardware and system design, as well as project management for ESA and EU-funded initiatives. He serves as a co-Principal Investigator (PI) for the Alphasat Aldo Paraboni communication experiments and is the Project Manager of the W-Cube mission, the first project to successfully transmit a 75 GHz beacon from space to ground. Since 2024, he has held the position of Business Unit Manager for Space at JOANNEUM RESEARCH.
