YOUR TRAVEL TO VIENNA

Will I require a visa to enter Austria?

Please note Citizens of:

  • EU member states;
  • the European Economic Area (EEA);
  • and Switzerland do not need a visa for entering the Republic of Austria.

Nationals of those states for which the visa requirement has been lifted by means of an EU regulation are entitled to visa-free entry to Austria for a maximum of 90 days.

Are there currently any landing bans in place?

Does the Zero Project support with visa requests?

Yes, please send a request to office@zeroproject.org with the subject line: ‘ZeroCon23 Visa Request’.

The Zero Project issues visa support letters upon request. The participant themselves are then responsible to issue and process their visa application with the respective Austrian consulate/Embassy in their origin country.


Does the Zero Project support with travel costs?

Please note that the Essl Foundation is a private foundation that covers all cost of the Conference itself, including various accessibility measures and conference catering. This means that the Essl Foundation has only a very limited budget when it comes to sponsoring travel cost, which is geared towards supporting the Zero Project Awardees 2023 from non-OECD countries who represent an NGO.

PREPARATION FOR ON SITE PARTICIPATION AT THE CONFERENCE

Do I have to register with the United Nations in order to gain access to the Conference Venue?

Yes, you will receive a separate email from the United Nations Office at Vienna in which you will be asked to apply for a United Nations ground pass. This ground pass will allow you to enter the UN facilities in Vienna from Wednesday, February 22, 2023 to Friday, February 24, 2023. Please expect this email to be sent to your inbox starting Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

If you do not receive a United Nations ground pass email (check your email spam folder as well) by Friday, February 18, 2023, please reach out to the Zero Project office inbox – office@zeroproject.org.


I have received the invitation to register for ZeroCon23, can I invite other participants from my network or organization?

Participation to the Zero Project Conference 2023 is limited to two participants per organization. If you would like to request an exemption to this rule, please send us a request stating your claim to: office@zeroproject.org.


I have diplomatic accreditation to the United Nations Office at Vienna. Is the registration process different for myself?

If you have diplomatic accreditation to the United Nations Office at Vienna, that entitles you to enter the Vienna International Centre, you will not need to register for a United Nations ground pass separately. Nevertheless, you will still need to register for the Zero Project Conference 2023.

Where/when do I “check-in” on the ground in Vienna?

Ground passes can already be picked up on Tuesday (hours TBC). Picking it up on Tuesday reduces the waiting time in the morning.

ACCESSIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION AT THE CONFERENCE

What accessibility measures will be in place at the Zero Project Conference 2023?

Information:

  • Zero Project team members and volunteers are available to offer additional support to individual participants.
  • The accessibility features available in each Conference session will be marked on the agenda and on the Conference platform.
  • A large print version of the Conference agenda will be available at the registration desk.
  • Portable induction loops will be available from the registration desk.

Navigation:

  • Tactile flooring is placed throughout the Conference building to aid navigation to key areas.
  • Large print signs and floor plans are placed throughout the venue to support navigation.

Sessions:

  • All sessions in all five Conference facilities will have human generated live captioning in English.
  • International Sign interpretation will be available in most sessions.
  • Individual headsets in each Conference room offer amplification of speakers on stage.
  • Graphic facilitation will be available in several sessions to provide visual summaries of presentations.
  • Most Sessions can be viewed remotely via YouTube with International Sign and human generated captioning provided in over 300 languages thanks to the accessibility features provided by the YouTube platform.

Presentations:

  • Instructions on creating an accessible presentation are sent to all presenters and dedicated Zero Project team members review presentations.
  • Audio description will be available for select videos submitted to the Zero Project team ahead of the Conference.
  • Presenters are requested to include captioning in English for all videos shown during presentations.

Is there a conference app? How do I stay informed before and during the conference?

The #ZeroCon23 platform is web-based, compatible for mobile devices and personal computers, and therefore no application needs to be downloaded.

Do I have to register for individual sessions, or only for the conference?

You only need to register once for the Zero Project Conference 2023 platform and there is no need to register for individual sessions.


Can I download an accessible Word version of the Agenda?

What kind of food and catering is provided during the Conference? Can I request special meals according to my dietary restrictions?

Each participant will receive a daily voucher for a cold lunch, (sandwich/still water). In addition, freshly brewed coffee and tea will be available throughout the Conference. Pastries, soft drinks, and snacks will be available for purchase as well.

#ZeroCon23 participants will enjoy receptions on Wednesday, February 22 and Thursday, February 23, which will feature, cold and hot food, as well as complimentary beverages.

Vegetarian options will be available throughout #ZeroCon23, however, the Zero Project will not be able to consider and accommodate individual dietary restrictions beyond that. Thank you for your understanding.

What do I do if I forget my password?
  • Click the Login in the upper right corner of the event website
  • Click the Forgot password?
  • Enter the email address you used to register for the event
  • Click the Send reset link button
  • You will receive an email with a Reset password button
  • Click the button and enter your new password in the Reset password field
  • Repeat the new password in the Repeat password field and click Reset password

Please check your spam and/or promotions inbox in case you did not receive the password reset email!

How do I change my password?
  • Log in using your email address and your password.
  • Go to Account Settings in the Dropdown under your profile picture
  • Go to the password section
  • Type the current password in the Current password field and the new password in the New password field
  • Repeat the new password in the Confirm Password field and save.

Please check your spam and/or promotions inbox in case you did not receive the password reset email!

How do I change my email address?
  • Log in using your email address and your password.
  • Go to Account Settings in the Dropdown under your profile picture
  • Enter the new email address in the Email address field
    • Please note that you cannot change your email address to one that already exists in our system
  • Click on Update Email Address
  • Wait for the confirmation email in your inbox and then confirm it

Why is my profile not activated yet?
  • If you see a badge saying Activation pending when you log in, it means that the event organizers have not activated your profile yet
  • If you believe your profile should have been activated already, please let the organiser know at office@zeroproject.org
