Aura Kimari

I’m a designer with a background in interior architecture and furniture design. In my work, I focus on sustainability, inclusivity, and experiential spaces created through user-centered design.

Inspired by Finnish sauna traditions and Japanese aesthetics, I recently developed a new kind of sauna concept that brings together traditional Finnish public saunas, sento bathhouses, and alcohol-free social experiences (mocktail bar). This project led to collaboration with Sauna from Finland, and I'm eager to continue developing this path further.

My interest in Japanese design deepened during my exchange studies in Japan, where I experienced firsthand the values of simplicity and harmony, and forward-thinking solutions in spatial design.

I’m now expanding my practice to offer my expertise to companies seeking to enhance their sauna concepts in three ways:

1. I help clients who want to renovate their saunas explore how small spatial changes can elevate the users' experience.

2. I offer consultation services to ensure upcoming sauna designs truly reflects customer needs.

3. On a larger scale, I work with businesses to conceptualize new types of saunas and provide complete spatial design plans tailored to their vision.

I believe in honest, user-centered design that is tailored to the customers' needs and wishes of the space. Whether I’m designing spaces for relaxation or everyday rituals, my goal is to create environments that feel thoughtful and welcoming to everyone.
