Saunthropology
About
Saunthropology is a global sauna research and experience-design project focused on how people connect through heat, water, ritual, and shared habits. Grounded in over a decade of research across Nordic, Baltic, and international bathing cultures, it helps businesses, public actors, and community-led initiatives create sauna and wellbeing experiences that are more human-centered, inclusive, and culturally grounded. By combining ethnographic research, user insight, and design strategy, Saunthropology supports the development of concepts, services, and spaces that deepen connection, enhance wellbeing, and bring lasting value to the evolving wellness landscape.
Its work includes consulting Stockholm Stad on the development of its first public sauna service and culture-led community building; running sauna sessions at FolkBastu, ArtSauna, and SacredSauna in Stockholm; and advising both commercial and community-based sauna concepts. Saunthropology is also connected to a wider ecosystem of practice and collaboration as a member of Svenska Bastuakademien and the Designer Healing Club, where it contributes as a heat/cold facilitation practice within an international collective focused on wellbeing for knowledge workers.
