We help scientists transform their health research results into products / services, and exploit them through the creation of spin-offs.

My organisation

Fiocruz is a health research institute, attached to the Brazilian Ministry of Health. We are present in almost all Brazilian States, so that we can tackle the country's diversity, as the health landscape is concerned. Closely related to the research activity is education: we offer masters and PhD's programs in many health fields. We also have two hospitals - one for infectious diseases and one for women and children - as well as several outpatient clinics. Although we produce vaccines, diagnostic kits and medicines, we cannot take to market all the research results we achieve. We do have a Technology Transfer Unit that offer some of these results (often patented) to be licensed to companies interested, but recently the Entrepreneurship Program (EP) was created as an additional institutional effort to transform research results into products / services, ready to enter the market and benefit the health system. We train and support the scientists to lead this process and create a spin-off at the end, to market the product / service developed. We have already supported the foundation of three spin-offs: one working in the digital health field (Digital Care 2 You), one marketing neuro-assessment services (Cybmind)
