Health systems strengthening

Healthcare systems are being challenged on multiple fronts. Ageing populations, the growing burden of non-communicable diseases, workforce shortages, and widening health inequalities are placing unprecedented pressure on the delivery of care. At the same time, countries around the world are working towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC), recognising that stronger health systems are fundamental to improving population health, reducing inequalities, and preparing for future health challenges. Strengthening healthcare systems is therefore no longer simply about increasing capacity, it requires rethinking how care is organised, financed, and delivered. 

This thematic session explores how governments, healthcare providers, industry, and international partners can work together to build stronger, more resilient healthcare systems. Bringing together perspectives from healthcare leaders, policymakers, and international experts, the discussion will examine how innovation, integrated care, digital transformation, sustainable financing, and public-private collaboration can improve access to quality healthcare while strengthening long-term system resilience. Drawing on international experiences, speakers will share lessons on creating healthcare systems that are more equitable, adaptable, and prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
