The Institute’s core mission is to advance modern biotechnology at UNAM through cutting-edge research of the highest academic caliber and, in parallel, to train specialized professionals.
The Institute’s core mission is to advance modern biotechnology at UNAM through cutting-edge research of the highest academic caliber and, in parallel, to train specialized professionals. To enhance, preserve, and deepen the leadership and contributions of the Institute of Biotechnology to science, technology, and society.
Objectives:
-To conduct original and cutting-edge research in the areas and disciplines covered by the Institute.
-To use knowledge in biology to develop competitive biological technology, preferably in collaboration with the industrial sector, aimed at solving problems in the fields of health, agriculture, industry, energy, and the environment.
-To participate in the training of human resources, preferably through their involvement in multidisciplinary research projects and in collaboration with other UNAM entities, particularly related faculties, and other universities.
-Contribute to the dissemination of knowledge in society.
-Promote the development of fundamental and applied research through research and technological innovation projects, designed to generate knowledge published in high-impact, high-quality journals, as well as to produce patents and facilitate technology transfer.
