About
The Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine, sitem-insel, is a National Center of Excellence for Translational Medicine and Entrepreneurship. We professionalize the translation of groundbreaking research into effective clinical practices for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases that benefit patients, society, and science. We make this comprehensive innovation performance and success visible with our sitem-insel Innometer tool.
sitem-insel is a not-for-profit and public-private organization, which is situated on the Insel Campus Bern and profits from the proximity to the Inselspital, Switzerland’s largest University hospital and to Switzerland’s largest Medical Faculty at the University of Bern.
With our international team of more than 20 employees, we accomplish our mission of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among the key stakeholders in Translational Medicine by operating a state-of-the-art building with modern laboratories and office spaces as well as training and event infrastructure to enable our 37 units with 443 employees from clinics, industry, research, education and our partners worldwide to implement translational projects.
In collaboration with the University of Bern, our School offers continuing education programs in translational and entrepreneurial medicine, regulatory affairs and quality management, and artificial intelligence in medical imaging. Two professorships in Regulatory Affairs and Applied Data Science and Decision Support Systems conduct our Research, which focuses on research funding and related services and networking activities. Our Clinical Anatomy Training and Research (CATR) unit offers a wetlab for advanced clinical surgical training and product development. Our one-stop-shop Innovation platform offers project management and consulting services and access to our extensive Translational Medicine Network for companies wishing further propel their projects and achieve continued business success.
