Carlos Arturo Alvarez Moreno

I am an Infectious diseases professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Medical School and the vice president of Innovation and Scientific Development at Clínica Colsanitas. I am a member of several scientific societies and have been a member of the National Academy of Medicine of Colombia since 2011, as well as the past president of the Colombian Society of Infectious Diseases. I’m involved in research projects on the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance, the control of infections associated with healthcare, HIV/AIDS, H1N1 infection, invasive fungal infections, and clinical trials related to antimicrobials and vaccines. I was also a member of the National Immunisation Committee in Colombia for six years. I served as advisor of Colombia’s Government (President of the Republic, Ministry of Health and Mayor’s Office in Bogotá) in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, and most recently, I was appointed as national coordinator of the Solidarity for COVID-19 and Monkeypox virus Clinical trials with the WHO and Japan Government by Colombia’s Minister of Health. In my role as Vice President at Clinica Colsanitas, a network of clinics belonging to the Keralty group, I lead processes related to knowledge management, education, and innovation.
