About
Wind farms and birds don't have to be a trade-off.
Bird protection requirements are becoming the deciding factor in whether a wind project gets permitted, how it operates, and how much it actually produces. The usual answer — shutting turbines down on a fixed schedule during migration windows or daylight hours — costs energy on days when no protected bird ever comes near the rotor.
Bioseco takes the opposite approach. Our system watches the airspace around each turbine continuously, identifies protected species on approach, and pauses the machine only for the moments a bird is genuinely at risk. When the bird has passed, the turbine returns to production. The result is documented protection for the species that matter and a fraction of the downtime a schedule-based rule would impose.
What this changes on a project:
-
Permits that would otherwise stall become workable, because the mitigation is measurable rather than assumed
-
Curtailment hours drop sharply — you stop for real events, not for statistical worst cases
-
Every detection is logged, giving you evidence to show authorities, lenders and local stakeholders instead of promises
-
Retrofit or new build — the system works on operating farms as well as projects still in development
With over ten years of experience in bird detection for wind energy, our systems are installed on wind farms worldwide and recommended by leading turbine manufacturers. Alongside wind, the same core technology protects aircraft from bird strikes at airports, which keeps our detection performance under constant real-world pressure.
At WindEnergy Match 2026 we would like to meet:
-
Wind farm developers and operators facing bird-related permit conditions or curtailment obligations
-
Turbine manufacturers looking to offer environmental compliance as part of the package
-
O&M and service providers interested in adding bird protection to their portfolio
-
Distributors and local partners in markets we have not yet entered
-
Research institutions and environmental consultancies working on collision risk and mitigation
If bird protection is a line item you currently treat as pure cost, we would like to show you what it can look like instead.
