Horizon Europe partner search: extreme-wind and cyclone loading for floating offshore wind

Parametrica is building a consortium for a Horizon Europe Cluster 5 submission on the open problem of design conditions for wind assets in extreme wind climates, with a focus on floating offshore platforms.

The technical question: standard design assumptions were largely developed for basins that do not behave like tropical-cyclone regions, and the coupled aeroelastic and hydrodynamic response of floating platforms under rapidly intensifying storms remains unsettled. The consequence is that the governing ultimate limit state case is often not the one a design process expects.

What we bring: high-fidelity aeroelastic and CFD modelling, probabilistic risk analysis, and translation of simulation results into figures that developers, certifiers and financiers can act on.

Partners sought: research institutes and universities working on offshore structural dynamics; materials and component testing facilities; floating platform developers and technology providers; OEM loads teams; and organisations in Asian and other cyclone-exposed markets who can bring site data and operational experience.
