Robert Mecarini

I was born in New Jersey quite some time ago and moved to Rome, Italy at the age of 3 where I lived until I returned to the US when I was close to 15. After attending college, and not doing a great job of figuring out what I wanted to do with my life, I joined my father at Alpine for what I thought was going to be a brief stint as a deckhand. It ended up being the beginning of my career. It was soon discovered that I was better at running computers than tying knots so I was moved into the position of navigator and hydrographer, and eventually worked my way to Party Chief and Project Manager, as well as running the charting department.  I cut my teeth working on projects in the US, Europe, West Africa and South and Central America. Before becoming President, I held executive roles as a VP of International Operations and Executive VP and helped negotiate the sale of the company to Gardline.

I purchased Alpine back from Gardline/Boskalis in 2018 and have made it my mission to grow the company to meet its full potential, while not losing sight of the customized and personal client experience for which Alpine is known.
