About

Company profile

FlexBase BV (FB) has more than ten years of experience designing, engineering, and building floating and amphibious structures for living, working and leisure.

Mission Statement

FB is an Eco-friendly floating structure developer aiming to serve water-bound cities with solutions enabling them to adapt to climate change and preserve their lifestyles in a shifting world.

Vision Statement

FB builds floating structures in recognition of a world where Water-bound cities are threatened by land subsidence, rising sea levels, and limited coastal land banks. We provide this in an affordable and Eco-friendly manner with floating structures built with favourable unit economics and low maintenance requirements. It will be sector-driven and enable localization of food and energy security by allowing local water space. Through innovative water development, we will shift perceptions of the protected sea and water bodies as merely recreational to one of them being vital resources in urban planning and city management.

Concept

The basic concept consists of EPS (Styrofoam) and, when necessary, concrete. The EPS is coated to prevent deformation.

The starting point is building directly on the water. It is realised regardless of the circumstances, such as locks or bridges in shape and size. The concept is unsinkable, has a high buoyancy level, and is recyclable. The base material, ethylene, is a rest product from petrol production. Last but not least, it doesn't need any maintenance. All concepts can also be applied as an amphibious solution.

Organization

Our company started in the Netherlands with several Dutch partners and is closely working with well-known Dutch companies in the field of floating infrastructure. Recently, we have begun a subsidiary office in Singapore with developments in the ASEAN region and Japan.

Environment

Regarding the environment, EPS is non-toxic and inert. It does not decompose, and it provides, therefore, lifetime durability. The moisture pickup over 30 years is measured at a maximum of 5-6 %. The material can be recycled 100%. The CO2 footprint is significantly lower than alternative floating solutions.

Realised

Several successful floating projects have been realised, over 5000 m².
