The Technology Innovation Office of Rio de Janeiro (NIT Rio) provides intellectual property protection and management services for nine research units linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI), the Brazilian government body responsible for formulating and implementing public policies in science, technology, and innovation. The units supported include the Brazilian Center for Physics Research (CBPF), Center for Mineral Technology (CETEM), Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT), National Institute of the Atlantic Forest (INMA), National Institute of Technology (INT), Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC), Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (MAST), and the National Observatory (ON). NIT Rio fosters innovation and technological development within these institutions, contributing to the country's scientific and technological progress.
