Poznan University of Technology (PUT) grew out of the State School of Mechanical Engineering, which was established in 1919. Currently, it is one of the leading technical universities in Poland. PUT trains highly qualified personnel in the field of engineering, broadly defined, in close liaison with research, technology development, and innovation, in partnership with the economy and society. Poznan University of Technology is a nine-faculty institution of higher education, educating nearly seventeen thousand students in over 30 fields of study. The University employs over one thousand academic staff. PUT participates actively in scientific exchange and international projects and cooperates with many companies and research institutions in Poland and abroad. PUT has about 230 international agreements with universities in Europe and outside. Poznan University of Technology was the first Polish University accepted into the circle of members of CESAER-a – the European association of the best technical universities (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research). PUT is a member of SEFI (Société Européenne pour la Formation des Ingenieurs), EUA (European University Association), ADUEM (Alliance of Universities for Democracy), and IAU (International Association of Universities). PUT plays a leading role in several fields in the international scientific and engineering community, mainly in the field of chemical technology and ICT. Poznan University of Technology established a new Aerospace Research Center at the Kakolewo airport. Initially, with the help of external funding, the airport has been fully digitalized. The campus now boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including two hangars, research and laboratory facilities, as well as advanced research equipment such as ground robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, mobile platforms, computer vision systems, augmented reality, and airport infrastructure. Secondarily, PUT focused on the development of space facilities.
