Next gen space propulsion for satellite constellations and IOSM

About

Magdrive provides electric in space propulsion for satellites, spacecraft and potentially large space platforms. We are a maturing SME with a large team and experience on relevant projects. Due to the nature of the calls we are looking to join rather than lead a consortium, but we can commit significant bid writing resource.

For IOSM our propulsion system is highly throttle able for close proximity operations. High peak thrust and high Isp enables longer missions with high thrust when needed. Our larger thruster is also designed to be refillable in space. We use metal propellant and have previously secured EIC funding with robotics companies to explore ISRU (using orbital debris as propellant). We have also worked on modular spacecraft bids, as our propulsion system is a fully completed integrated unit (including propellant) that can easily be removed.

For satellite communications and EO we provide propulsion systems well suited to a range of satellite mass classes. The unique versatility of our EP system enables new constellation management possibilities, as satellites equipped with our propulsion system can make orbital changes more frequently.

We can contribute to projects across a range of TRL levels. Our first generation propulsion system for smaller satellites is at TRL8 and launches in June. Our larger thruster for space tugs and geostationary satellites will reach TRL4 this year

We have experience with EIC Accelerator and Pathfinder and can provide significant bid support. We also have relationships with a number of companies and research institutions in this sector who may complement projects
