Equanostic AS is a Norwegian company that develops advanced sensor systems for detection, inspection and monitoring of critical infrastructure, with an emphasis on radar and ultrasound technology. The company develops complete sensor systems from sensor design, electronics and embedded systems to signal processing, data fusion and machine learning-based analysis methods.
The company has built up deep expertise in the development of energy-efficient sensor systems for demanding operational environments. Equanostic delivers both products and services and works actively with pilot projects and commercialization in collaboration with industrial players and public partners. We have developed sensor solutions for measurements in oil and gas wells, inspection of water and sewer pipes, and safety-related building inspections. The company is currently working on the development of drone-based field applications. EquaShield for drone protection and Equadetect for mine detection.
EquaShield is a dual-use ultra-wideband impulse radar system designed to detect, classify, and track drones and other objects. EquaShield is a system based on Equanostic's sensor platform. The system has extremely low transmitter power and a minimal electromagnetic footprint. The technology has been developed for drone-based detection of other drones within a defined protection radius based on the needs in Ukraine. The solution provides a "virtual fence" (bubble) around drones or UAVs. The drone's autopilot receives a warning signa if an enemy drone enters the "bubble" and can immediately maneuver so that the enemy drone does not hit. The virtual fence has a width of 1 meter and radius of 50 meters in 360 degrees around the drone. The solution detects relative speeds of up to 150 km per hour between the drone that has EquaShield and the enemy drone. The EquaShield weigh is less than 100 grams and measures only 65x45x10 mm - ideal for integration into a wide range of drones.
